JOB SUMMARY
This position provides and promotes optimal patient care to Emergency Department patients and Med. Surg. inpatients, according to hospital standards. Responsible for providing care to patients during their stay at MCHCS. Duties include managing schedules for inpatient treatments, coordinating care providers, ordering tests, and maintaining medical records for patients.
PRN - 12 & 24 hour shifts as needed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited school for Physicians or Advanced Practice Providers.
Licensure/certification: Physicians must be board certified in Family Practice or Emergency Medicine.
Current PA/NP license to practice as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in the State of Iowa.
Current ATLS, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
Drug Enforcement Agency permission to prescribe and maintain controlled substances.
Iowa Controlled Substance certificate
Previous Work Experience: Previous experience as a provider in hospital medicine and emergency room
Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English with people from diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds both orally and in writing. Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal directions. Must be able to direct the work of others while personally handling multiple tasks in a variety of situations. Requires organizational and self motivational skills in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. Must be able to recognize signs and symptoms of multiple disease processes. Must demonstrate ability to utilize effective decision-making and problem solving techniques. Ability to work independently and interdependently with the health care team and community resources. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations and focused amid interruptions in a potentially fast paced environment.
