Packaging Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
SET-UP of Equipment – SOP
- Prepare SOPs for operation and changeover of packaging equipment (e.g., equipment setup, parameter changes, etc.) and keep them updated as needed.
Maintenance Management
- Review and help in the set-up of PM for Packaging Equipment
- Confirm and follow up that all preventive maintenance has been performed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Audit PMs of packaging equipment in order to optimize them.
- Control inventory of parts and materials associated with packaging equipment.
Sanitation
- Work with Sanitation Manager in developing cleaning procedures of the equipment.
- Regularly inspect equipment to ensure its proper cleaning before production.
Training
- Train all operators and mechanics in the proper operation of the equipment.
Closing Procedures
- Prepare SOPs for the closing procedures of packaging equipment and train operators accordingly.
Optimization of Packaging & Operation Control
- Ensure the proper setting and running of equipment so packaging is always optimized.
Troubleshooting
- Lead and be involved in all packaging problems and troubleshooting issues. Coordinate among all concerned parties to resolve issues as efficiently as possible.
- Solve technical issues on package reliability, materials and assembly process (e.g. defective boxes, wrong adjustment or settings, etc.).
- Collaborate and maintain cross-communication with Production and Maintenance, during break downs.
- Lead and manage the Root Cause Analysis.
- Work with the team to develop their root cause analysis skills.
Packaging Projects
- Support new equipment purchases, and equipment upgrades by providing expertise in overall equipment functionality, automation, and controls.
- Documentation management, coordination of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and support line development.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Have knowledge of the operation of all packaging equipment.
- Packaging Materials – All types of films and cartons
- Have complete understanding of the technical aspect of the packaging equipment.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors of Arts Degree in an Engineering discipline.
