This role also creates written product assets (manuals, instructions) and supports marketing by editing photos and graphics as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Design packaging concepts and final artwork for product boxes, sleeves, inserts, and related collateral that align with brand strategy and commercial goals.
- Produce production‑ready dielines and print files (CMYK, spot colors, proper bleeds, folds, and die cuts).
- Create written product assets such as user manuals, instruction sheets, and assembly guides; design and layout content to be clear, brand‑consistent, and production‑ready.
- Edit and prepare marketing assets when needed, including photo retouching, basic composite work, and graphic adjustments for campaigns, e‑commerce, and social.
- Collaborate with product development, marketing, sourcing, and manufacturing to ensure packaging feasibility, cost efficiency, and sustainability objectives.
- Manage the prepress process: proofing, color management, file prep, and QA checks prior to print.
- Source and evaluate materials, finishes (coating, varnish, emboss/deboss), and structural options with vendors.
- Create mockups and prototypes for internal review and photography; coordinate dieline revisions after prototyping and supplier feedback.
- Maintain and organize packaging artwork libraries, version control, and supplier specifications.
- Ensure all packaging meets regulatory, labeling, and barcode requirements where applicable.
- Support marketing and e‑commerce teams by adapting packaging artwork for digital assets, display, and product photography.
- Stay current on packaging trends, materials, and sustainable packaging solutions; propose improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional packaging and graphic design experience, preferably in a consumer product/CPG environment.
- Proven track record designing product boxes and producing print‑ready dielines. Portfolio must include multiple examples of retail packaging and written product assets where possible.
- Expert level in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; familiarity 3D image and video tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of print production processes, color management (Pantone/CMYK), and file preparation best practices.
- Knowledge of structural packaging principles and the ability to read or produce dielines and technical drawings.
- Excellent typographic, layout, and visual design skills; experience designing clear user manuals and instructional content.
- Photo editing and basic retouching skills for marketing use.
- Strong communication skills and experience coordinating with suppliers, printers, and cross‑functional teams.
- Detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
- Experience with sustainable packaging materials and cost optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with 3D mockup tools or packaging prototyping equipment.
- Experience creating assets for e‑commerce and retail merchandising.
