Job Description: Packaging Optimization Lead
Company: [Eterna Management] Location: Orange County, California (On-Site) Industry: Third-Party Logistics | Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Director of Operations
About Us
We are a fast-growing Orange County-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider specializing in the handling, fulfillment, and distribution of hemp-derived products. Think of us as the pit crew behind the race car — our clients are out there winning customers, and we make sure every package leaves our facility fast, compliant, and cost-optimized.
Position Overview
The Packaging Optimization Lead is the architect of our packaging ecosystem. Just as a master chess player thinks ten moves ahead, this role anticipates inefficiencies before they become problems — redesigning workflows, cutting dimensional weight costs, and ensuring full compliance. You will own the packaging process from concept to shipment, leading a team in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization
- Audit and redesign packaging workflows to reduce material waste, labor costs, and dimensional weight charges — think of this as tuning an engine so every cylinder fires at the right time
- Identify and implement automation or technology solutions to improve packing speed and accuracy
- Benchmark packaging KPIs and continuously drive improvement across throughput, error rates, and cost per unit
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Oversee label accuracy, QR code integration, and required health/ingredient disclosures
- Partner with the compliance team to stay ahead of evolving state and federal hemp packaging laws
Team Leadership
- Lead, schedule, and develop a packaging team of 8–15 associates across multiple shifts
- Foster a culture of precision — like a symphony conductor ensuring every instrument plays its part on time
Client & Vendor Relations
- Source and negotiate with packaging material vendors to balance cost, sustainability, and compliance
Inventory & Systems
- Maintain accurate packaging inventory levels within the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Coordinate with fulfillment and receiving teams to prevent bottlenecks

- Packaging and labeling regulations
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a warehouse or production environment
- Proficiency with WMS platforms and Microsoft Office/Google Suite
- Strong analytical mindset — you see data like a GPS, using it to reroute toward efficiency
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3PL operations and multi-client fulfillment environments
- Familiarity with sustainable packaging practices and eco-friendly material sourcing
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
