Packing Specialist (Heavy Steel Industry)

We are seeking a highly skilled Packing Specialist to join our team in the Production Control division within the Operations department. This role is responsible for overseeing all packing and shipping operations in a heavy steel manufacturing facility. This role ensures that finished goods are efficiently and accurately packed, labeled, and prepared for shipment according to company standards and customer requirements. He is also responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and productive packing environment. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creation related work instructions for workers.
• Plan and schedule packing operations to meet production deadlines and shipping schedules.
• Ensure adherence to production schedules and maintain consistent packing output.
• Establish and maintain quality standards for packing processes and materials.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure proper packaging, labeling, and handling of finished goods.
• Monitor compliance with company and customer packaging requirements.
• Supervise, train, and motivate packing shop personnel, including packers, material handlers, and other staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for employee development.
• Manage employee schedules, time off, and ensure adequate staffing levels.
• Monitor and manage inventory of packing materials, including boxes, tape, labels, protective packaging, etc.
• Place orders for packing materials as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.
• Track material usage and minimize waste & ensure proper storage and handling of packing materials.

Requirements:

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Logistics, Supply Chain Management) is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in a packing or warehouse environment, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
