The Intern will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to the Mayor's Office by contributing to various projects, initiatives, and administrative tasks. This role will involve active participation in research, community engagement, event planning, social media content creation, and administrative duties. The intern will work in collaboration with internal departments, external stakeholders, and represent the Office of the Mayor at public events.

This position offers an opportunity for hands-on experience in government operations, community engagement, event management, and administrative support within the Office of the Mayor.

The internship provides a chance to contribute meaningfully to local governance and gain valuable skills for future careers in public service or related fields.

Duties

Primary

Conduct research on diverse topics to support decision-making processes and policy development.

Develop engaging social media content aligned with the office's objectives and community interests.

Participate actively in public outreach efforts and community meetings, fostering neighborhood engagement and rapport.

Draft and prepare proclamations, correspondence, letters, and presentations.

Assist in data entry tasks and organize information and data for efficient access and utilization.

Collaborate with internal and external offices and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.

Represent the Office of the Mayor at special events, fairs, festivals, and interact with attendees as a representative of the office.

Greet and direct clients and visitors, handle office mail, packages, and phone calls efficiently.

Take accurate minutes during department meetings and assist in the preparation of various reports, including budget reports and data analysis.

Support in planning and executing special events such as community events, data collection initiatives, and employee recognition events.

Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or higher authorities within the office.

Job Requirements

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, or a field relative to current departmental needs.

Proven ability in written and verbal communication skills, including drafting professional documents.

Proficiency in social media management and content creation.

Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and prioritize responsibilities effectively.

Ability to use office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, etc.) and familiarity with data entry and analysis.

Demonstrated interest in community engagement, public service, or local governance.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team environment.

Work is performed in a modern office environment. Special events might require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with the Mayor's Office and other City employees.
