Paint Body Shop Technician

SUMMARY POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Supervisor, does skilled work in the repair and maintenance of commercial vehicle exteriors. Usually involved in the changeover process for branch route trucks. Duties include but not limited to operation of hand tools such as hand sanders and scrapers, replacement of lighting markers and signals, mixing of chemicals for body repair, replacement and/or repair of locks and latches. The technician should be able to safely use welding and cutting torches, repair fiberglass body and prep for paint. Technician will install decals, know basic 12 volt wiring and be able to perform minor metal fabrication. The technician promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; the ability to perform arithmetic computations where required; ability to diagnose malfunctions and do a variety of mechanical and electrical system overhaul.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE: (if applicable) Auto body repair experience preferred. CDL Class B license preferred but not required. Some travel required. Basic computer skills required. Must have tools. Must be able to comply with OSHA/ Blue Bell’s respiratory protection program.
