Overview
The Paint Prep Technician plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process of Gunwerks long-range shooting systems, focusing on meticulously preparing both metal components and composite stocks for finishing, which are highly visible parts of the rifle system and key to customer satisfaction. This position demands a keen eye for detail and strict adherence to documented work instructions and quality processes, ensuring a perfect finish every time. Responsibilities include utilizing the Odoo system to manage and retrieve inventory, inspecting materials, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and following inventory management guidelines. The technician must possess excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Performance is evaluated based on completing tasks within set time frames, maintaining workstation cleanliness, thorough inspection of work, and adherence to the daily work schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
Metal components preparations
- Follow documented work instructions.
- Using Odoo to organize and pull correct components from inventory locations
- Inspect all materials before and after material prep.
Composite stock preparations.
- Following documented work instructions.

Work center maintenance.
- All equipment will be kept in excellent working condition.
- All work areas will be kept clean and free of defects and clutter. Daily maintenance is required.
General Responsibilities
- Follow inventory management guidelines maintaining appropriate amounts of inventory.
- Participation in improvement/clean up projects
Key Performance Indicators
- Task Completion Time: Percentage of daily work assignments completed within the established time frames.
- Workstation Cleanliness: Daily assessment of workstation cleanliness and organization.
- Inspection Thoroughness: Number of errors or defects caught during pre- and post-prep material inspection.
- Rework Rate: Frequency of rework needed on prepared materials.
- Schedule Adherence: Percentage of time the technician follows the approved daily work schedule.
- Inventory Accuracy: Accuracy of pulling and organizing components using Odoo.
- Equipment Maintenance: Number of equipment issues reported or maintenance logs completed.
- Quality Control: Number of defects or issues found in materials passed to the next work center.
- Improvement Project Participation: Level of engagement and contribution to improvement/clean-up projects.
- Work Instruction Adherence: Percentage of work completed following documented work instructions.
Decision-Making Authority:
Level 1: Independent Decisions
- Implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives within the work area.
- Re-ordering consumable supplies and materials through the materials department.
- Enforcing safety regulations and procedures.
Level 2: Collaborative Decisions (requires consultation or approval)
- Changes to documented procedures and work instructions.
- Development of new production processes.
- Cross-functional project decisions impacting production.
- Addressing minor equipment malfunctions and coordinating repairs.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
