Paint Technician

Job Summary

The Paint Technician at Gibson is a key player in making sure all finishes on our guitars are up to company standards. In charge of making sure all paint drums are full, keeping all supplies restocked, and reordering when its low. Keeping paint booths and E-stat equipment clean and investigating any quality issues that may arise.


Essential Functions

  • Check Paint and Lacquer viscosity, doc on drums and Log.
  • Complete booth coating activities per schedule.
  • Ensure the paint equipment is installed properly.
  • Check paint levels in drums. Replace drums as needed.
  • Change out agitators on the drums and pressure pots.
  • Inspect finishing room for safety violations.
  • 5S area and conduct layered audits.
  • Paint Vault Check List is in use and up to date for compliance.
  • Rebuild paint equipment as needed.
  • Submit purchase recs. for materials.
  • Collect materials needed from the stock room and distribute to distribution areas for general staff.
  • Check paint pots and cups in shade booth.
  • Adherence to the Gibson Cardinal Safety Rules as per the Gibson Playbook for Cardinal Safety Rules and General Safety Rules
  • Obligation to submit Safety observations for identified hazards using the safety observation QR code
  • Support the comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure a safe work environment, maintain compliance with regulations, and improvement of our safety processes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Results oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to plan.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.


Physical Demands

Must be able to stand all day and lift guitars throughout the day.
