PAINTER REQUIRED

REPORTS TO: Painting Supervisor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES-

- To lead the team to get the most of them

- Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal, concrete for finish coat.

- Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel and other finishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, and/or other structures by using brushes, spray guns or rollers.

- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate cost based on surface measurements and/or work orders.

- Cover surface with proper cloth or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.

- Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives (scraper).

- Mix and match colors of paints, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.

- Cut stencils and brush and spray lettering and decorations on surface.

- Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or home owners in order to determine work requirements.

- Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps and electric switch covers prior to painting.

- Select and purchase tools and finishes for surfaces to be covered, considering durability, ease of handing, and methods of application and client wishes.

- Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool and/or sanding machines.

- Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover or other preparations and other sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.

- Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch unto the surfaces.

- Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering or faux finishing (Stucco).

- Erect scaffolding and swing gates or setup ladders to work above ground level.

QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED

- Have a ITI or Certification in Painting work.

- Must have a minimum of Five (5) years of extensive experience in painting from a reputable company.

- Must be knowledgeable of the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques common to the painting trade.

- Must be knowledgeable of the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques common to the painting trade.

- Must be knowledgeable and has skill in hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal.

- Must have knowledge of text and display requirements for signage applications.

- Must have skill in the preparation and application of paints, stains, and surface preparation materials to a wide variety of surfaces.

- Must be knowledgeable in reading and following blueprints, plans or drawings.

- Must have good interpersonal skills and can work well in a team.

- Must have good English communication skill.

- Age between 30-40 years.
