Zero Zone is a manufacturer of reach-in and open refrigerated and frozen food display cases as well as the refrigeration systems that work behind the scenes to cool the cases, keeping the food fresh! Our company is structured across 2 divisions – the Display Case Division, located in North Prairie, WI, Waukesha, WI, and Mukwonago, WI and the Refrigeration Systems Division, located in Ramsey, MN and Dyersville, IA.

What Will You Do?

Under the direction of production supervision, the Panel Technician assists in assembling and fabricating electrical panels for industrial and commercial refrigeration systems. The following duties include panel layout, locating and mounting electrical components for rack systems and electrical control cabinets, wiring electrical components in a panel, and fabricating electrical enclosures.

Essential Responsibilites:

  • Layout, fabricate, assemble and label panels, and enclosures, for control devices to meet job requirements
  • Wire electrical components such as control boards, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, and fuses, etc
  • Assist in maintaining minimum quantities of stock materials, and anticipated material needs
  • Assist with day-to-day duties that may be required
  • Ability to work independently in a timely and safe manner
  • Ability to consistently complete tasks within the time allowed
  • Maintain good relationships with co-workers
  • Incorporate teamwork concepts for maximum productivity and quality
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements for Effective Performance:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED is required, previous manufacturing experience helpful.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is helpful.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools is required.

Skills/Abilities/Specifications:

  • Ability to read blueprints and diagrams, while identifying components and wire sizes.
  • Ability to measure accurately using a tape measure.
  • Ability to perform simple calculations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions, both oral and written, pertaining to all documentation
  • Effectively communicate one-on-one and in group settings with other employees within the organization
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Capability to adapt, multitask and see the big picture to determine actions required to make the company successful
  • Flexibility in work responsibilities as role develops over time

Behavioral & Environmental Requirements:

  • Maintain a positive work attitude. Zero Zone expects all employees to behave and communicate in a manner which will facilitate good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Safety toe shoes and safety glasses are required while in production areas.
  • Regularly perform work at a bench, standing in stationary position for extended periods of time, and walking throughout the office and production areas; have uses of hand and arm; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 40 pounds.
