About the Role:

The Pantry position plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation and organization of food storage and distribution within a facility. This role ensures that all pantry items are properly stocked, rotated, and stored according to safety and quality standards, contributing to efficient kitchen or food service operations. The Pantry team member collaborates closely with kitchen staff and management to anticipate supply needs and prevent shortages or waste. Attention to detail and adherence to health regulations are essential to uphold the integrity and safety of all food products handled. Ultimately, this position supports the overall mission of providing timely and quality food service by managing inventory and maintaining a clean, orderly pantry environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to lift and carry moderate weights regularly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a pantry, kitchen, or food service environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems or software.
  • Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings or weekends if required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and time management.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming food and supply deliveries to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Organize pantry shelves and storage areas to maximize space and maintain easy access to items.
  • Monitor inventory levels regularly and communicate with purchasing or kitchen staff to reorder supplies as needed.
  • Ensure all pantry items are rotated using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the pantry area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist kitchen staff by preparing and portioning pantry items as required for daily meal preparation.
  • Document inventory usage and discrepancies accurately to support operational reporting and audits.

Skills:

The required skills such as organizational ability and attention to detail are essential for managing inventory accurately and maintaining a clean pantry environment. Communication skills enable effective coordination with kitchen staff and suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of supplies. Physical stamina and the ability to handle manual tasks support the daily demands of stocking and moving pantry items. Preferred skills like familiarity with inventory software enhance efficiency in tracking and reporting stock levels. Additionally, knowledge of food safety protocols ensures compliance with health regulations, safeguarding the quality and safety of all stored food products.

Benefits:

Full time employees maintaining an average of 25 hours a week have an option to enroll in medical insurance and an HSA account while those who maintain 20 hours can choose to enroll in dental, vision, voluntary life, and pet Insurance. Employees are enrolled in the company’s 401k plan with an annual discretionary match after 500 hours of employment. Paid Time Off is available for all front of house employees and accrued at 1 hour for every 26 hours worked.
