The Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) organization, is hiring a Paralegal to support the Employment and Immigration Law (E+I Law) Legal Team. As a Paralegal in this role you will help transform the E+I Law Legal team's employment law practice.

Legal Knowledge, Expertise and support

Provides comprehensive programmatic support for complex legal matters, including developing and modernizing processes, such as document retention, file management, and data, document, and witness discovery.

Drafts and maintains knowledge management materials for multiple audiences, including the E+I Law Group, CELA and our HR clients.

Proactively supports employment attorneys and other HR Legal roles on routine and non-routine legal matters, such as gathering and organizing discovery materials and working as a SME on e-discovery issues, assisting with drafting agency submissions, leading communications and work with Microsoft’s outside counsel and witnesses, and preparing for mediation.

Maintains familiarity with the applicable employment law framework in the U.S. and agency regulations and processes.

Builds knowledge of Microsoft’s business, E+I Law and Corporate, External and Legal Affairs processes, and Microsoft policies.

Evaluates and prioritizes one's own work tasks and projects based on practice area goals and attorney input.

Monitors timelines and schedules to ensure deadlines are met.

Works with E+I Law attorneys and Human Resources clients to maintain and update legal resource materials (e.g., HR FAQs, HR communications).
- Collaborates on and demonstrates accountability for achieving project goals within practice group, and contributes to team projects outside of practice group.

Required/Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in Paralegal, Legal Administration, or relevant experience; OR Paralegal Certification that meets the requirements for the location of work AND 5+ years experience in Paralegal, Legal Administration, or relevant experience
- OR equivalent experience.

1+ years' experience with Employment Law.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree AND 4+ years experience in an employment law.

3+ years relevant in-house corporate experience.

1+ years experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and SharePoint and Excel.

Ability to work independently while also demonstrating the ability to collaborate when working with diverse teams.

Ability to utilize organizational and project management skills to work efficiently to prioritize tasks, meet workload fluctuations, deadlines and goals.

Problem solving skills in ambiguous scenarios and ability to move forward based on solid assumptions and risk mitigation, while also identifying root causes, resolutions, and make systematic improvements.

Ability to demonstrate interpersonal awareness and influence others without direct authority.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Paralegal IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $152,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $101,000 - $166,900 per year.
