Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support for our medical malpractice defense team. This role involves assisting attorneys with medical and legal research, document management, case preparation, and administrative tasks to ensure efficient case handling and client service. The Paralegal will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our law office while contributing to the successful resolution of legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Conduct medical and legal research using LexisNexis, and other research tools.
- Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents, contracts, pleadings, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
- Manage case files using document management systems like iManage and Legal case management software; ensure all documents are properly organized and maintained.
- Review and analyze legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review and analyze medical records and preparation of medical chronologies.
- Research and retain expert witnesses.
- Perform document review and proofreading to ensure clarity and correctness in all legal materials.
- Support litigation activities including discovery, deposition preparation, and trial preparation.
- Interaction with clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for case development.
- Maintain accurate data entry and filing systems; handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
- Provide executive administrative support including phone etiquette, organizational assistance, and correspondence management.
- Assist with project management tasks related to ongoing cases or firm initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven paralegal experience with medical malpractice defense.
- Proficiency in legal research tools including LexisNexis.
- Experience with legal case management systems and document management platforms such as Aderant.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear legal documents and conduct thorough proofreading.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective interviewing skills for client interactions.
- Knowledge of legal administrative processes including filing procedures, data entry, document review, transcription, and contract management.
- Familiarity with clerical experience in a law office setting along with professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $56,000.00 per year
