Paralegal / Legal Assistant – Child Dependency Practice

Pereira & Associates is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Paralegal/Legal Assistant to support our child dependency and child welfare practice, with occasional assistance on personal injury matters.
This position requires regular attendance at Cherokee County Juvenile Court (approximately twice weekly), as well as substantial document preparation, filing, and case management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Attend juvenile court hearings and assist attorneys with case preparation
- Draft, proofread, and file legal documents
- Manage e-filing, calendars, deadlines, and case files
- Coordinate with courts, DFCS, guardians ad litem, clients, and other parties
- Maintain confidential records and handle sensitive information professionally
- Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys
Qualifications
- Paralegal certification
- Experience with court filings and legal document preparation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case-management software
- Reliable transportation for travel to Cherokee County
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Preferred
- Experience in juvenile dependency, child welfare, or family law
- Familiarity with Georgia juvenile courts and Odyssey/PeachCourt
- Notary commission or willingness to obtain one
