Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Paralegal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will provide essential support across a wide range of legal practice areas, including estate planning, immigration law and family law. Your responsibilities will include assisting with legal research, document review, case management, and administrative tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our law office. - Support attorneys with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather pertinent case law and statutory information
- Assist in drafting legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, memos, and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Manage case files and documents efficiently within document management systems like iManage and PCLaw
- Conduct thorough document review for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal standards
- Organize and maintain legal case management systems to track deadlines, filings, and case progress
- Perform data entry and filing tasks to ensure all records are up-to-date and easily accessible
- Support project management initiatives by coordinating schedules, preparing reports, and facilitating communication among team members
- Conduct interviews with clients or witnesses as directed to gather relevant information for ongoing cases
- Proofread legal documents meticulously to ensure correctness before submission or filing
- Assist with administrative duties including phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence
Experience
- Prior paralegal experience or internship in a law office setting is highly preferred
- Demonstrated familiarity with estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law or workers' compensation law is a plus
- Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis is required
- Experience with legal case management software like iManage or PCLaw is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Excellent writing skills with attention to detail in drafting and proofreading documents
- Knowledge of legal administrative processes including filing procedures and document management systems
- Effective communication skills suitable for interviewing clients or witnesses and interacting professionally via phone or email
