Duties
- Assist with the collection, review, and organization of medical records related to ongoing legal cases across multiple practice areas such as personal injury, workers' compensation, family law, and estate planning.
- Support attorneys with legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to gather relevant case law and medical information.
- Manage electronic and physical filing systems using document management software to ensure easy retrieval of case documents.
- Draft, proofread, and transcribe legal documents including reports, correspondence, and case summaries with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct document review and data entry to maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Coordinate interviews with clients and medical providers to obtain necessary medical records or additional information for cases.
- Support project management efforts by tracking deadlines, court dates, and document submissions related to litigation or administrative proceedings.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while adhering to legal protocols and office policies.
Requirements
- Prior paralegal experience or internship in a law office setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of litigation is advantageous.
- Proficiency with legal research platforms including LexisNexis and Westlaw; familiarity with document management systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Demonstrated experience in legal drafting, proofreading, transcription, and contract review.
- Strong research skills combined with attention to detail in document review and data entry tasks.
- Effective communication skills for interviewing clients and coordinating with medical providers.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, phone etiquette, and clerical support within a small law office environment.
