<Duties>
- Assist attorneys with case preparation by organizing and reviewing legal documents, evidence, and discovery materials using document management systems such as iManage and Clio.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research across various areas including criminal law, family law, landlord-tenant law, and more, utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools.
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Manage case files efficiently through data entry, filing, and document review to ensure all records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Support client interviews by preparing questions, taking detailed notes, and maintaining confidentiality throughout the process.
- Coordinate with courts, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate case progress while adhering to procedural requirements.
- Provide administrative support including calendar management, scheduling hearings or meetings, and handling phone inquiries with professional etiquette.
<Skills>
- Proven paralegal experience with a strong understanding of criminal defense procedures and related legal fields such as immigration law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, or tribal law is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms including Westlaw and LexisNexis; familiarity with UCC law, patent law or securities law is a plus.
- Experience with legal case management software like PCLaw or Clio; adept at using document management systems such as iManage or Legal Files.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong writing skills for drafting clear legal documents and correspondence; proofreading and transcription skills are essential.
- Effective interviewing techniques combined with outstanding communication skills for client interactions.
- Knowledge of project management principles to coordinate tasks efficiently within a busy law office environment.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and clerical support confidently.
