Paralegal - Immigration Detention

Location: Remote Swamp-Based Facility, Florida
Deployment: 8 weeks on - 2 weeks off

We are staffing a secure detention facility in a remote region of Florida. We’re looking for a Paralegal ready to operate in a structured, high-security environment. The Paralegal will support the Detention Center Legal Advisor in facilitating the legal process for detainees within the facility. The Paralegal will provide essential administrative and legal support, assist with case documentation, and serve as a bridge between detainees, attorneys, and the courts. This role ensures timely and accurate handling of legal requests while maintaining compliance with detention standards and applicable laws.

Your Mission

Case Support & Documentation

• Prepare, organize, and maintain legal files, including motions, discovery, and correspondence.
• Draft routine legal documents, reports, and summaries for attorney review.
• Track deadlines, hearings, and court requirements to ensure compliance.

Detainee Legal Assistance

• Help facilitate detainee access to legal counsel and legal resources.
• Process detainee legal requests in alignment with facility policies.
• Assist with scheduling attorney visits, calls, or virtual meetings.

Research & Compliance

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal standards governing attorney–client communications.
• Ensure compliance with detention facility policies, PREA standards, and federal/state regulations.

Coordination & Communication

• Liaise between detainees, attorneys, court staff, and facility personnel.
• Provide administrative support to the Legal Advisor and respond to legal inquiries as directed.
• Assist with preparing reports for leadership and regulatory audits.

Requirements

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or related field required.

· Paralegal certification preferred.

· 2+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in immigration, criminal defense, or detention/corrections.

· Experience working in a detention, correctional, or government contracting environment a plus.

Pay: $40/hr

Shift availability: This position will work 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week for the duration of the deployment, totaling 84 hours per week. You will be paid overtime over 40 hours worked in one week
