Position Summary: Under the supervision of multiple attorneys, the Insurance Coverage Paralegal performs a range of substantive case, matter, and/or client-related duties to support assigned practice group. Prepares drafts of legal and other documents and correspondence for attorney review. Researches, compiles, analyzes, and summarizes documents and information. Coordinates efforts between attorneys, clients, outside legal counsel, opposing legal counsel, other parties, and outside vendors.
Size and Scope: Under the supervision of attorneys, performs all duties connected with maintaining an individual caseload to support an assigned practice group or office location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Creates insurance policy abstracts and coverage charts.
- Monitors litigation dockets, reviews and summarizes filings and developments, and maintains litigation trackers.
- Drafts standard procedural pleadings.
- Organizes, maintains and updates electronic and hard-copy client files.
- Maintains large document collections within firm-wide database; performs document reviews and prepares document productions, including redactions and Bates numbering.
- Assists attorneys in preparation of depositions; prepares witness files; schedules attorneys, expert witnesses, and interested parties; prepares and serves Notice(s) of Deposition; coordinates schedules with court reporters and videographers.
- Indexes and summarizes deposition transcripts.
- Files pleadings with various courts via electronic filing through CM/ECF, eFileDC, MDEC, and paper filings.
- Performs legal research; compiles, analyzes, and presents findings; obtains information/ documents from various courts, government agencies, libraries, and other outside resources.
- Assists with trial preparation; maintains case calendars, case files, and trial/case notebooks.
- Organizes initial documents received for new cases; indexes records, and prepares summaries and chronologies of events.
- Follows protocols and guidelines for client work.
- Performs other duties and tasks as business needs dictate.

Minimum Education/Certification/Training:
Bachelor’s degree required. Paralegal certificate preferred.
Minimum Experience*:
A minimum of five (5) years of Paralegal experience is required, with a minimum of 3 years recent litigation experience. At least one (1) year insurance coverage paralegal experience is preferred.
*Experience requirements can be adjusted to fit the needs of the Practice Group.
Required Skills and Knowledge:- Intermediate to advanced technical skills using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe is required; a working knowledge of Concordance, Access, iManage and e-discovery tools such as Relativity are strongly preferred.
- Litigation knowledge and skills (including electronic filing) are required.
- Prior database experience and online research skills, including Westlaw, are required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential in order to interact with staff, paralegals, attorneys, and clients on a regular basis.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention-to-detail in order to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines is required.
- Ability to prioritize work effectively to manage multiple projects.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment. The employee routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.

- Paralegals are eligible to participate in the Firm’s quarterly billable-hours bonus program.
Salary Range:- $80,000 - $90,000 based on experience and credentials, however, the higher end of the salary range is reserved for exceptional circumstances.
After training and orientation, you will have the option to work a hybrid schedule. Schedules and in-office work depend on practice group needs.
