Role Description: Internship - Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Case Manager (Advancement Opportunity)
This is a part-time, fully remote, legal internship in Atlanta, GA for the position of Paralegal/Legal Assistant Intern. The intern will assist the Managing Attorney by organizing and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, preparing drafts of legal correspondence, and managing case files.
Paralegal's primary role is drafting documents for filings, discovery, and client meetings.
Responsibilities also include scheduling client meetings, handling administrative duties, and ensuring proper documentation is maintained for ongoing cases. This role provides valuable hands-on experience and exposure to the legal field, offering an excellent opportunity for skill development and learning.
Responsibilities
- Assist with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and iManage to support ongoing cases across multiple practice areas such as estate planning, tribal law, patent law, and workers' compensation law
- Prepare and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery materials, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail
- Support case management by organizing files in document management systems and maintaining accurate records of case activities
- Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for case development
- Perform data entry and filing tasks to ensure all case files are up-to-date and compliant with firm standards
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and clarity; assist with transcription when needed
- Collaborate with attorneys on project management tasks to meet deadlines efficiently
Experience - Preferred but demonstration to quickly learn and adapt is taken into consideration:
- Enrolled in or recent graduate of an accredited paralegal studies program or related field with prior paralegal experience;
- Demonstrated knowledge of family law;
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis is a plus;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent writing skills for drafting memos, summaries, and correspondence; proofreading skills are highly valued
- Effective communication skills for speaking to clients;
- Clerical experience including filing, data entry, phone etiquette, and administrative support in a law office setting.
