JOB DESCRIPTION
The Paralegal/Legal Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting lawyers and law and title associates in accurately preparing, organizing and filing various legal and title documents. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Meet with attorneys, co-workers, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned projects.
- Provide administrative, documentary, and ongoing research support to attorneys.
- Research legal and title issues and supporting law by using online and offline resources.
- Prepare and file documents with courts, counties and other governmental offices.
- Organize and archive documents related to completed and ongoing projects, according to established standards.
- Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal and title articles, judicial and title decisions and underwriting, and other legal and title sources; provide written analysis to attorneys and co-workers.
- Serve as communication liaison between the firm’s attorneys, title officers, counterparties, and clients.
- Draft documents, send to attorneys and title officers for final review.
- Review documents to ensure factual elements (e.g., names, addresses, signature blocks, loan amounts, etc.) are current and correct, and proof for typographical errors.
- Assemble clients’ diligence submission packages for investors, lenders, and state agencies (e.g., OHFA, HUD, USDA, etc.).
- Perform escrow, title and survey processing.
- Complete checklists and prepare documents for Residential and Commercial closings.
- Assist attorneys in handling USDA, Rural Development transactions; complete USDA forms.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Working knowledge (conditioned upon experience) of (a) terminology, principles, and research methods for legal, title, and survey projects; (b) governmental and other offices processes; and (c) and other related matters as job may dictate.

- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Proficient with using project management and file sharing software (e.g., Sharefile, Box, Dropbox, Procurem, etc.)
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as paralegal studies, legal studies, or business law.
- Paralegal certification a plus and title experience a plus.
- Minimum two years’ experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or title assistant.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, typing on a keyboard, and viewing computer monitor(s).
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Occasional evening and weekends required, particularly during project closings.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
