Paralegal Officer-Legal Administration

JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview

The post holder is responsible for assisting lawyers, carrying out legal research and managing litigation and complaints.

Responsibilities
  • Drafts legal documents and correspondence for the lawyers review
  • Organizes and maintains documents in a paper or electronic filing system
  • Coordinates the collection, review and production of documents
  • Maintains a law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes
  • Gathers and analyzes laws, regulations, court decisions, legal articles, documents and other data
  • Investigates case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources
  • Compiles information and prepares statistics, charts, graphs and other summaries to detail the findings
  • Assists in the preparation, filing and service of all court documents
  • Summarizes depositions, interrogatories and testimony
  • Organizes exhibits and assists with other tasks as required
  • Acts as a liaison between the Legal Department and outside counsel or the court, for scheduling and sharing information
  • Directs and coordinates external law firms' activity, including delivery and receipt of legal documentation
  • Attends incident or complaint-related meetings as requested by the General Counsel and minutes such meetings
  • Oversees complaints lodged by employees or other affected parties to assist the lawyers to reach a determination and provide a legal opinion
  • Facilitates and files complaints and cases with the Police and Prosecutor
Accountabilities
  • Provides accurate legal direction to leadership teams and staff on matters that influence SSMC
  • Manages compliance and risk for in-house counsel and other legal/administrative groups with complete accuracy
  • Ensures SSMC is in compliance with applicable business process laws
Qualifications

Experience

  • Required: 2-3 years of progressive legal responsibility in a law firm or in-house
  • Desired: Experience in a large healthcare facility

Educational Qualification

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Desired: Bachelor's in Law or Business Administration
