Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. You will provide essential support to attorneys in all steps of personal injury case handling after cases have been filed with the court. Your role will involve assisting with legal case management, document review, proofreading, obtaining medical records, client communication, file organization and management, letter writing, summarizing medical records, filing complaints, issuing discovery, setting depositions, trial preparation, etc. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in personal injury law and administrative skills to contribute to the success of our firm.
Position requires excellent communication skills, both by phone and in writing. Paralegal work will include drafting and mailing update letters to clients, opening and closing files, making calls to clients with updates and case management information, updating files with Clio case management software, and independently monitoring case status throughout the process.
The ideal candidate is patient, friendly, outgoing, organized, efficient and has excellent time-management skills. Must pay great attention to detail and take initiative to complete next logical task.
Prior experience in a legal office preferred. Prior experience with personal injury cases will be a factor in determining rate of pay. Prior experience with Clio management software a plus.
Duties:
- Assist attorneys in managing personal injury litigation cases from filing to settlement stages
- Conduct thorough document review and analysis
- Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Proofread and edit legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Conduct legal research using resources such as Lexis-Nexis
- Organize and maintain case files and documents via our management software
- Schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances
- Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and witness statements
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather relevant information
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a paralegal within personal injury law: 2 years or more is required
- Strong knowledge of legal procedures and terminology related to personal injury cases
- Proficient in conducting legal research using online databases such as Lexis-Nexis
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and proofreading
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to transcribe accurately and efficiently
- Comfortable conducting interviews with clients and witnesses
A period of on-site training (full time in office) will be required until the new hire demonstrates full competence with all facets of the position. Once proficiency is demonstrated, the candidate may work from home two days per week, depending on calendar for court appearances and meetings each week.
