We are looking for a skilled Paralegal with extensive experience in personal injury and medical records management to join our team and support our legal and operational needs.

Position Summary

The Surgical Center Paralegal will play a critical role in managing legal documentation, personal injury case files, and medical records. This individual will work closely with physicians, attorneys, insurance companies, and patients to ensure compliance with Arizona state laws, federal healthcare regulations, and HIPAA guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling personal injury cases and medical records requests while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with HIPAA and Arizona healthcare privacy laws.
  • Request, review, and summarize medical records for personal injury litigation and insurance claims.
  • Prepare legal documents such as demand letters, affidavits, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
  • Respond to subpoenas, discovery requests, and medical record requests while following state-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, medical providers, and insurance companies to facilitate smooth case management and resolution.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness information, and case evidence.
  • Maintain case management software, track deadlines, and ensure timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Support billing, liens, and other processes related to personal injury and medical cases.
  • Stay current with Arizona laws and regulations related to healthcare, medical records, and personal injury litigation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • Paralegal Certification (Arizona Certified Paralegal preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on personal injury and medical records management.
  • Strong knowledge of Arizona medical records laws, healthcare privacy rules, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Proficiency in legal and medical terminology.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience interacting with attorneys, medical professionals, and insurance representatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a surgical center, hospital, or medical facility in Arizona.
  • Familiarity with Arizona personal injury laws and medical billing processes.
  • Knowledge of Arizona medical lien requirements and processes.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
