Paralegal/Case Manager

Job Overview

The Paralegal supports the attorney in both creditor collections litigation and estate planning matters, assisting with case management, document preparation, client communication, and court filings. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Collections / Creditor Litigation

  • Draft and file legal documents, including:
  • Petitions, answers, motions for summary judgment, default judgments
  • Demand letters and settlement agreements
  • Garnishments, writs of execution, and post-judgment discovery
  • Review account records, contracts, and payment histories
  • Maintain case files and track litigation deadlines
  • Coordinate service of process and filings through e-filing systems
  • Communicate with clients, debtors, courts, and opposing counsel
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and hearings
  • Monitor and follow up on judgments and collections activity

Estate Planning & Probate

  • Draft estate planning documents, including:
  • Wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives
  • Prepare probate applications and supporting documents
  • Assist with estate administration, including inventories and notices
  • Communicate with clients regarding estate planning goals and document execution
  • Coordinate document signings and notarizations
  • Maintain client files and ensure compliance with firm procedures

Experience

  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management
  • 2+ years of experience in collections, litigation, or estate planning preferred
  • Familiarity with Texas court procedures and e-filing systems strongly preferred
  • Strong drafting and proofreading skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Clio billing experience a plus

Administrative skills including data entry accuracy and clerical experience in a legal setting are essential for success in this role.
