This position will be a part time position working with the administrator of the Virtual Prep Academy of Idaho to monitor, support, and communicate progress to students and parents in the online program.
Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the online classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Duties include:
- Monitor student progress in one or more online programs including, Edmentum, BYU Online, IDLA, and Edgenuity
- Communicate weekly with students through one of the following ways; email, phone call, text message, video conference, or face to face conference.
- Communicate with administrator on students who are not making adequate progress and propose interventions to support the student and family.
- Provide opportunities for one on one or small group tutoring sessions if needed.
- Ensure parents or guardians are aware of student progress, particularly if a student is failing a course.
- Develop relationships of trust with students and advocate for their success in online learning.
Essential Job Functions
- Be proficient in using a wide variety of online software programs and readily be able to learn how to navigate our online platforms.
- Be able to communicate clearly to students and parents or guardians in both writing and speech.
- Be professional in all communications. Be positive and pleasant in interactions with our student and patrons.
- Be able to find creative solutions to help motivate and assist struggling learners.Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
- Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
- Assists professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
- Assists students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement if IEP objectives, etc.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications Profile:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age,
- Ability to pass criminal history background check,
- Ability to pass the paraprofessional praxis or present the equivalent in college credits,
- Some college preferred,
