COMMAND CENTER OPERATIONS DISPATCHER & PATIENT TRANSPORTATION DRIVER.

HOURS: Saturday & Sunday 11am-730pm

We are seeking a compassionate and qualified candidate who's at least 23 years old to transport ambulatory, wheelchair, and gurney patients. Must be able to lift up to 150lbs.

What is Your Role? PARKING OPERATIONS DISPATCHER

As a Command Center Operations Dispatcher your key role will be to provide an exceptional parking experience for our patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. As an essential member of the parking team you will work in the Parking Command Center inside the hospital and execute tasks through a software system and a panel of camera monitors. You will learn everything about how the equipment works and be able to troubleshoot and control the equipment through the software.

JOB ESSENTIALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Provides compassionate service to patients, visitors, and employees by communicating and assisting them as they enter and exit the campus.

2) Observes business activity using command center systems and advises Parking Services Specialist and Manager of potential problems or issues.

3) Maintains verbal communications via telephone, intercom and radio to ensure operational efficiency.

4) Monitors security cameras and reaches out to patients and employees who may be in need of assistance.

5) Assist in activating and deactivating employee key cards on a daily basis.

6) Work closely with the security department to address any issues.

7) Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and employees, under all types of circumstances. Ability to maintain good judgment and professional demeanor under periods of stress.

In this key role you will be performing on the front line of guest service and have the first and last interaction with our patients at a world class hospital. You will be joining a team that takes pride in delivering the unique guest service experience that we strive to provide upon our guests immediate arrival and departure. For the positions we're hiring for, you will be responsible transporting patients who are ambulatory, in a wheelchair, and transported by gurney.

Training and Certification: We provide BLS Certification, Emergency Use of Medical Oxygen Certification, Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity Training Certification, and Understanding our Patient and the Road training such as: Leading with Emotional Intelligence, Americans with Disabilities Act, De-escalating Stressful Situations with Patients, Defensive and Distracted Driving, HIPPA Privacy and Confidentiality, and Bloodborne Pathogens.

Job Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, on time, door to door non-emergency transportation for patients to medical appointments.
  • Provide necessary assistance to patients according to the varying needs of each individual.
  • Ensure the safety of our patients and extend special care to those who are frail and physically or mentally challenged by providing appropriate support.
  • Push and steer large wheelchairs up and down ramps and lifts.
  • Maintain knowledge of proper methods to load and unload, and secure patients.
  • Safely operate wheelchair lifts and ramps, and properly secure wheelchairs through proper lock down techniques in vehicle.
  • Safely operate and properly secure non-emergency gurneys through proper lock down techniques in vehicle.
  • Secure mobility equipment inside vehicle.
  • Communicate using a two-way radio system and phone.
  • Pick up patients in response to radio or phone relayed request for service.
  • Plan routes to destination and evaluate alternative for unexpected detours or emergencies.
  • Exhibit safe and defensive driving skills at all times.
  • Follow proper procedures when transporting patients, including but not limited to: Positioning of vehicles for loading and unloading, assistance at entries and exits, door to door and curb to curb service, wheelchair and gurney securement, wait times, return times, hands free driving, etc.
  • Maintain awareness of patient and any changes in their condition that may need immediate attention.
  • Demonstrate a positive, open, and supportive attitude toward patients, family members, and employees.
  • Use collaborative and professional communication with internal and external team members.
  • Ensure vehicle and keys are safely and securely stored at the end of each day.
  • Promptly report vehicle repair needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exterior and interior of the vehicles daily.
  • Fuel up vehicles as needed.

Education/Experience/Training

  • Previous driving experience preferred
  • Must be at least 23 years of age for insurance purposes
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license
  • Ability to safely drive various types of vehicles, both large and small
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
  • Sensitivity and compassion for patients, the elderly, and physical and mentally disabled individuals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
  • Must be able to meet the following MVR guidelines:
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • No “Major” violations within a 3 year period (DUI, speeding over 21+mph, driving without a license, etc.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid State of California driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated skill in communication with a diverse community; both orally and in writing.
  • Computer experience using standard word processing, spreadsheet, database, and operational applications appropriate to job responsibilities and the ability to learn new technology with ease.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and think clearly under all conditions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to respond effectively, both orally and in writing, to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts of basic mathematics.

TRAINING

You will receive comprehensive training for your job before performing your responsibilities on your own.'
