Part 141 Evaluator (Examining Authority)

Position Summary

As a Part 141 Evaluator at a flight school with Examining Authority, you will be responsible for conducting end-of-course evaluations, stage checks, and proficiency checks in accordance with FAA Part 141 regulations and the school’s approved Training Course Outlines (TCOs). You will ensure standardization, regulatory compliance, and the highest level of safety while objectively assessing student pilot competency.

This is a designated, high-trust role that requires exceptional judgment, instructional experience, professionalism, and integrity.

Duties/Responsibilities

Evaluation & Testing

  • Conduct Part 141 stage checks, end-of-course tests, and re-tests per school TCOs and Examining Authority procedures.
  • Evaluate students’ aeronautical knowledge, flight proficiency, and adherence to ACS/PTS standards as applicable.
  • Provide objective, constructive feedback and determine student readiness for advancement or graduation.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain strict compliance with FAA Part 141 requirements and internal standard operating procedures.
  • Accurately complete all evaluation paperwork, endorsements, and digital record-keeping tasks.
  • Notify the Chief Instructor of any systemic training issues or trends.

Standardization & Quality Assurance

  • Participate in regular evaluator standardization meetings.
  • Follow standardized grading criteria and maintain consistent evaluation standards across all courses.
  • Assist with updating training materials, TCO revisions, and quality-improvement initiatives.

Safety & Professionalism

  • Maintain a safety-first mindset and enforce safety standards during ground and flight evaluations.
  • Represent the flight school in a professional manner at all times with students, staff, and regulatory personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate; CFII; MEI.
  • Minimum of 1000 total time.
  • Minimum of 700 hours dual given.
  • Minimum of 300 hours dual given in multiengine aircraft.
  • Prior Part 141 stage check or evaluation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA ACS/PTS standards, TCOs, and Part 141 operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated history of instructional excellence and standardization compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must receive FAA approval for the specific courses and ratings they evaluate within 180 days of initial employment date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial or ATP experience beyond minimum instructor levels.
  • Experience in standardization roles, check instructor positions, or training program management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related field.
  • Chief Instructor or Assistant Chief Instructor of a Part 141 school
