Part-Time Accountant: Job Description
Summit Events is a leading, locally owned and operated Destination Management Company (DMC) in Park City, Salt Lake City, and St. George, UT. We're looking for a meticulous and experienced accounting professional to join our dynamic team and contribute to our ongoing growth by managing our financial records. This hourly position is perfect for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who can handle all aspects of our company's accounting functions with precision and independence, all while joining a growing company in an evolving position. This position reports directly to management and plays a key role in maintaining our financial health, with a specific focus on budgeting and financial analysis.
Onsite Sales Coordinator/Office Administrator
- Start Date: Spring 2026/To be discussed
- Position Type: Part-time hourly position with an hourly rate range from $35.00 - $50.00/hour based upon experience
- Reports to: General Manager & Partner
- Primary Territory: Office is located in Park City, UT with operations also in Salt Lake City, UT and St. George, UT
- Location: This is a remote-first position, with the option to be in office if desired. To be discussed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Budgeting: Create and maintain annual and departmental budgets, monitoring performance, and analyzing variances between actual results and forecasts
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present key financial reports and dashboards (e.g., profit and loss statements, balance sheets) to management
- Accounts Payable: Manage the entire accounts payable process, including receiving, verifying, and processing invoices. Ensure timely and accurate payment of all vendor bills and expenses
- Accounts Receivable: Oversee the accounts receivable cycle from start to finish, including creating and sending invoices to clients, tracking payments, and following up on past-due accounts
- Payroll: Manage the bi-monthly payroll process, including calculating hours, processing deductions, and ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
- Check Requests & Expense Reports: Process and verify all check requests and employee expense reports, ensuring they are compliant with company policies and properly documented
- Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions
- Commission Reports: Accurately calculate and prepare commission reports for sales and operations staff, ensuring timely and correct payouts
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or a similar financial role, with a strong understanding of both accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience with accounting process design and implementation is a plus, as we are continually seeking to improve our financial workflows
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks), payroll software (e.g., ADP, Deputy), Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
- Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in service-based businesses or the hospitality industry is a plus, but not required
