PART-TIME ACCOUNTANT / EXPERIENCED BOOKKEEPER

REW Music | Lenexa, KS | In-Person

Pay: $18–$20/hour (DOE)
Schedule: ~25 hours/week | Consistent weekday schedule (between 8:30am–3:00pm)
Location: On-site, shared office

THE ROLE

We’re seeking a part-time Accountant / Experienced Bookkeeper who will take real ownership of our books—not just process transactions, but understand the business behind the numbers.

This role is ideal for someone who:

• Sees accounting as a critical part of healthy relationships—with customers, vendors, and teammates

An accounting degree is preferred, but we will also consider candidates with 3+ years of strong, hands-on accounting experience.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Day-to-Day Accounting

• Accounts Receivable for rental contracts (including delinquency management)
• Accounts Payable (vendor invoices, expenses, inventory-related bills)
• Bank deposits and transaction accuracy
• Credit card and vendor statement reconciliations

Financial Statements & Month-End Close

• Produce accurate monthly financials with minimal supervision
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts (not just bank and credit cards)
• Identify issues early and clean up historical inconsistencies
• Explain month-over-month changes clearly

Systems & Process

• Work accurately with industry software
• Manage and monitor integrations (POS, payroll, inventory, payment systems)
• Maintain clean documentation, SOPs, and workpapers
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas required)

Business Awareness

• Understand our revenue model (rentals, lessons, retail, repairs)
• Track trends, margins, and recurring issues
• Flag risks before they become problems

QUALIFICATIONS

• Accounting degree or 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, journal entries, and ledger structure
• Excellent Excel / Sheets skills (pivot tables required)
• High attention to detail and organization
• Strong communication and follow-through
• Comfortable learning industry-specific software
• Able to work independently in a shared office environment

Experience with inventory accounting, depreciation, or retail/rental businesses is a plus.

SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT

• Approximately 25 hours per week
• Consistent weekday schedule required (including summer)
• Occasional additional hours during busy periods
• This role is intended to be long-term
