Position Overview
We’re hiring multiple part-time instructors to support partner schools in the Whittier area. Depending on your strengths and availability, you may lead small-group tutoring, teach enrichment classes (like LEGO Engineering or Art), or do a mix of both. You don’t need to be a STEM expert or an art teacher - we provide the curriculum, materials guidance, and paid training.
What You’ll Do
- Work with small groups of students (grades K–8) during after-school hours
- Lead tutoring sessions and/or enrichment classes using our provided lessons
- Set clear expectations, keep students engaged, and use positive behavior supports
- Take attendance and follow site routines (check-in, safety procedures, dismissal)
- Prep materials before class and leave the space clean and organized
- Share a short session note with your supervisor (attendance + quick highlights)
Examples of Assignments (varies by school)
- Tutoring: math and/or reading support, homework help, skill-building
- Enrichment: LEGO Engineering, Art, and other hands-on classes (curriculum provided)

Qualifications
- At least 6 months experience working with students (classroom, after-school, tutoring, camps, recreation, youth programs)
- Associate's degree or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and classroom/group management
- Pass criminal background check via fingerprinting before hiring.
- Possess TB Test clearance (current within two years).
- Have reliable means of transportation (some roles may involve working at different nearby sites)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds
Schedule and Pay
- Part-time: 10–15 hours per week
- Hours: Monday–Friday afternoons (typically between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM)
- Pay: $21.00–$26.00 per hour (based on experience/education)
- Paid training provided before you begin at a site
- W-2 position
Note
This position is dependent on school supplemental funding and may be reassessed at the end of the school contract term.
