Part-Time Barista

Job Overview

Mexes Café in East Los Angeles is hiring an Entry-Level Barista, with availability on Sundays. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, working between 12 to 20 hours a week. You will be covering about 4 and a half hours on those days during our busiest time of the day, typically between 8:30a-1:00p or 10:00a-2:30p, perfect for college students in the area to work part time and maybe in between gaps in their classes!

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in a café environment. We are seeking a dependable, friendly individual who enjoys working with people, takes pride in quality, and contributes to a positive team atmosphere.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, and other food menu items
• Provide friendly and welcoming customer service
• Take orders and operate the POS system
• Maintain cleanliness of the café and work areas
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Assist with stocking and basic prep tasks
• Support team members during busy periods
• Learn opening and closing tasks over time

• Due to California State Food Safety Laws, Food Handler’s Certificate is required and you must be willing to get one as soon as possible (candidates with a valid, non-expired Certificate already will be PRIORITIZED over other candidates.)

Compensation

• $17.81 per hour plus tips, with wage going up to $18.47 this July.
