Part-Time Bilingual Medical Receptionist

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with appointment scheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear and courteous communication to patients, providers, and external partners.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance pre-authorizations, and handle billing inquiries related to medical collection processes.
  • Review and update patient records accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of health information.
  • Assist with intake procedures, including collecting medical history, updating care plans, and documenting patient interactions thoroughly in EMR systems like Athenahealth or Dentrix.
  • Support medical office management tasks such as filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and documentation review to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff on medical coding tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and documentation review to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement.

Skills

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (or other relevant languages) with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and healthcare documentation standards.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix.
  • Familiarity with medical billing processes including Medicare claims submission and insurance verification procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional patient service with professional phone etiquette and compassionate demeanor.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Prior clinic or dental office experience with front desk responsibilities such as scheduling, filing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and security of patient information at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, care plans, and administrative support tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
