Brown Academy, an academic institute in Great Neck, New York, is seeking a qualified and engaging Biology Teacher / Tutor for the summer term. This role may continue into the regular academic year based on performance, student enrollment, and scheduling needs. Summer-only applicants are also encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate should be able to teach Biology in a clear, structured, and student-centered way, while helping students strengthen understanding, grades, and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Teach Biology to middle school and/or high school students in small-group or one-on-one settings
- Support students in school coursework, honors-level classes, Regents, AP, or general academic enrichment depending on student needs
- Prepare lessons, assignments, quizzes, and review materials as needed
- Monitor student progress and communicate professionally with the academy
- Create a focused, supportive, and academically strong learning environment
Qualifications
- Strong academic background in Biology or a related field
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- NYS certification is a plus but not required
- Candidates with school teaching experience, tutoring experience, graduate study, or pre-med/science backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- Must be dependable, communicative, and able to teach students at different levels effectively
