Position Summary
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records and ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations. This role is essential in supporting the organization’s financial integrity, compliance, and reporting in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and record a complete and systematic set of financial transactions
- Utilize QuickBooks for daily bookkeeping and financial management
- Process regular bills and produce checks for weekly mailing
- Track and manage outstanding balances
- Create and maintain balance ledgers
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
- Prepare financial reports including receipts, expenditures, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements for Board meetings, including fund-level reporting
- Administer payroll, including:
- Processing payroll
- Maintaining employee records and paid time off
- Preparing and submitting federal, state, and local tax documents and payments
- Oversee on-site annual financial audit:
- Produce required reports for Annual Tax Audit with required documentation
- Assist with grant-related financial tracking and reporting
- Manage payroll allocations across programs and funding sources
- Perform fund accounting, including tracking and reporting on restricted and unrestricted funds
- Maintain accounting for annual appeal campaigns, scholarship funds, and other donor-restricted or specially allocated funds
- Ensure proper classification and compliance with donor and grant requirements
- Prepare supply allocation reports and annual budgeting reports to Executive Director
- Compile annual tax assessment documentation
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (required)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll processes
- Experience with nonprofit and fund accounting, including restricted vs. unrestricted funds (preferred)
- Experience with grant tracking and reporting
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Minimum of 5+ years bookkeeping experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
Compensation
- $32–$36 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Higher end of the range reserved for highly experienced candidates with nonprofit and payroll expertise
Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
