Part-Time Bookkeeper / Payroll Accountant

This is a mostly remote role with the flexibility to work from home the majority of the time. We ask that you come on-site to our Phoenix location once or twice a month as needed. You will have a defined scope, report directly to ownership, and submit a simple weekly time sheet for management review.

BOOKKEEPING

  • Enter and categorize all transactions in QuickBooks weekly
  • Record customer payments and apply to open invoices
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up directly with customers on outstanding balances
  • Review and pay approved vendor invoices in a timely manner
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card monthly
  • Issue 1099s to qualifying contractors at year-end

PAYROLL

  • Process payroll for 40 employees accurately and on time each pay period
  • Apply all deductions correctly — taxes, benefits, garnishments, and 401(k) contributions
  • Ensure 401(k) deferrals are remitted to the plan provider on time each pay period
  • Remit federal and state payroll tax deposits on schedule
  • Handle new hire setup and termination processing
  • Issue W-2s and file W-3 at year-end

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Hands-on QuickBooks experience — this is required, not preferred
  • Prior bookkeeping and payroll experience in a small business setting
  • Comfortable communicating professionally with customers regarding outstanding invoices
  • Experience processing 401(k) payroll deductions and remittances is a strong plus
  • Someone who understands payroll tax deposit schedules and filing deadlines and takes them seriously
  • Organized, self-directed, and communicates proactively — we should not have to chase you for updates

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
