Position Overview
Historic Carver Technical Education Center (HCTEC) is seeking a part time Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher to lead our Facials Specialty program. The teacher will deliver hands-on, career-focused instruction that prepares adult learners for entry-level and next-step roles in skincare, beauty, and related pathways.
This role requires a strong background in skincare, salon services, safety and sanitation, and the ability to effectively prepare students for successful careers in the beauty and wellness industry.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Teach and assess students in all areas of esthetics, including skincare, facials, hair removal, makeup application, and lash services.
- Deliver instruction aligned with state-required competencies, including:
- Career opportunities in grooming and salon services
- Health, safety, and environmental management systems
- Infection control, sanitation, and decontamination procedures
- Anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and electricity as applied to esthetics
- Demonstrate proper use of tools, equipment, and EPA-approved chemicals according to manufacturer guidelines.
Clinical & Technical Training
- Instruct students in performing facials, skin analysis, and advanced treatments.
- Teach proper techniques in:
- Hair removal (waxing, tweezing, threading, sugaring)
- Artificial lash application and tinting
- Makeup application (basic, corrective, and advanced looks)
- Guide students in selecting appropriate treatments and products based on client needs.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
- Teach and enforce Florida laws and regulations
- Train students in emergency procedures and institutional safety protocols.
Professional Skills Development
- Promote employability and entrepreneurship skills, including:
- Professional behavior and work ethics
- Career planning and goal setting
- Financial literacy and basic business concepts
- Foster leadership, teamwork, and effective communication skills.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Student Engagement & Support
- Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects cultural diversity.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies, including lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training.
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Technology & Administration
- Incorporate technology such as scheduling systems, electronic devices, and presentation tools into instruction.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation.
