Part-Time Cashier/Guest Attendant

Summary Of Position

The Role:

Under general supervision, performs front desk and cashier duties at the City’s Aquatics Center. Provides customer service support to patrons, processes admissions and program fees, answers public inquiries, and assists staff with facility reservations and event preparation. Ensures a welcoming, organized, and efficient entry experience for all guests.

Essential Functions

Additional job functions may vary due to department or City needs/requirements. Assignments may include but are not limited to:

Customer Service & Front Desk Operations

  • Greet patrons in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Provide accurate information regarding facility schedules, programs, policies, and fees.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and relay messages as appropriate.
  • Monitor lobby and front entry areas to ensure compliance with facility rules.
  • Assist guests with locker rentals, lost and found inquiries, and general facility navigation.

Admissions & Cash Handling

  • Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system to process daily admissions, memberships, and program registrations.
  • Collect and accurately record payments including cash, card, and electronic transactions.
  • Maintain security and accountability of assigned cash drawer; balance receipts at the end of shift.
  • Maintain knowledge of current pricing structures, promotions, and discount policies.

Facility Rentals & Event Support

  • Provide basic information to patrons regarding party room rentals and facility use policies.
  • Direct rental inquiries to designated administrative staff for scheduling and contract processing.
  • Assist with confirming rental arrival times and checking in party hosts upon arrival.
  • Support staff by preparing party rooms as assigned (e.g., verifying cleanliness, setting out materials, restocking supplies).
  • Monitor rental activities from the front desk and notify supervisors of concerns or policy issues.
  • Collect and distribute rental-related forms or documentation as directed.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Maintain front desk organization, including supply inventory and retail display items.
  • Assist with distributing program flyers and promotional materials.
  • Report maintenance, safety, or customer service concerns to supervisory staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Aquatics Center operations

Position Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous customer service or cashier experience desirable but not required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Work is performed primarily indoors within a public aquatic facility environment. Position requires standing for extended periods, light lifting (up to 25 pounds), and working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
