Part time Cat Sitter & Dog Walker

Desert Tails Pet Services LLC is a professional, well-established pet sitting business specializing in cat sitting and dog walking. We are currently seeking experienced, part-time Cat Sitter/Dog Walker to join the team servicing Cave Creek, Carefree, and Far North Scottsdale. We are a diverse team of pet lovers—retirees, educators and vet techs, who share a passion for animals and are seeking part-time or supplemental income.

By providing dependable, compassionate care to pets, sitters can earn upwards to between $500-$1,000+ per month, depending on your availability and willingness to work.

The Role

We are a primarily cat-focused company (approximately 80% cats / 20% dogs). Typical assignments range from 2–7 days per client.

Cat Sitting
This role supports one primary cat-sitting client on an as-needed basis, Sunday–Saturday. There are no set days or hours.

Scheduling varies week to week based on the client’s travel (for example, Sunday–Thursday one week or Friday–Tuesday another). Two visits per day are required. The morning visit takes place anytime between 8 AM–9:30 AM, and the second visit anytime between 3:30–6:00 PM. Weekend availability is required. Additional vacation visits for other clients may be assigned as needed.

Dog Walking
This role also supports one primary dog-walking client, Monday–Thursday.

One visit per day is scheduled anytime between 9:45–11:00 AM for two dogs. Visits may include a walk or a backyard potty break, depending on the dogs’ needs. The schedule is consistent, with occasional adjustments. Dog walking is less frequent than cat sitting.

Ideal Availability
Morning availability anytime between 8 AM – 11:00 AM.
Afternoon availability anytime between 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
Weekend availability is required.

Candidates must:

• Live in Cave Creek, Carefree, or Far North Scottsdale
• Own a reliable vehicle with a valid driver’s license
• Be 21 years or older
• Have previous animal care experience (beyond personal pets)
• Be comfortable working independently with strong time-management skills
• Be highly reliable, honest, self starter, critical thinker, communicative, and passionate about animal care
• Be physically able to walk, bend, lift, and manage pets
• Own a smartphone with unlimited data
• Be willing to obtain and maintain pet sitting/dog walking insurance
• Be comfortable working as a 1099 independent contractor
• Be able to receive direct deposit via Zelle
• Pass a criminal background check

Job Responsibilities

• Provide daily exercise, enrichment, and individual attention to pets
• Follow all client feeding and care instructions precisely
• Refresh food and water at every visit
• Clean litter boxes, tidy toys, and clean up after dogs
• Maintain daily communication with pet parents
• Monitor pets for any health or behavior concerns and report as needed
• Use sound judgment and common sense during every visit

Compensation

• Visits start at $20 for a 30-minute visit
• Longer visits (45–60 minutes) are paid at a higher rate
• Keep 100% of tips
• Flexible scheduling and additional holiday pay on top of rate

Legal / Contractor Information

This position is part-time supplemental income and not an employee role. Income is not guaranteed and should not be considered a primary income source.

• Classified as a 1099 independent contractor
• No employee benefits provided
• Receive a 1099 NEC form at year end
