Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care to expectant mothers, with a focus on patient-centered care and a commitment to excellence. This role is responsible for supporting and collaborating with hospitalists and other medical professionals to deliver exceptional patient care in a hospital setting.
This position is a part-time role and will be hired as an independent contractor. Anticipated work schedule will include 1-2 clinic days per week as well as a varied number of 24-hour call shifts per month.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of low-risk pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, family planning, and gynecologic needs
- Exercises independent judgment related to patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling and consults and collaborates with other healthcare professionals
- Provides full-scope management of patients including care in the clinic of KC Full Circle Midwifery & Family Wellness, as well as caring for patients during labor, birth, and postpartum at partnering hospital
- Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patient
- Obtains medical histories and conducts physical examinations and evaluations as appropriate
- Orders and interprets laboratory/radiology testing, as appropriate
- Makes diagnoses and prescribes therapeutic measures of care including controlled substances per state regulations
- Counsels patients and provides teaching for health maintenance and specific health problems
- Recognizes and manages common acute and chronic illnesses within scope of practice according to standards of care
- Conducts women’s healthcare appropriate screenings
- Provides immediate emergency care as needed and communicates with hospitalist (OB/GYN)
- Collaborates frequently with the patient-centered team in regards to treatments, referrals, and follow-up care of patients
- Makes appropriate referrals to specialists
- Communicates frequently with Clinical Director
- Conducts peer review and quality improvement activities on a regular basis
- Covers labor and delivery at the partnering hospital as assigned
- Perform prenatal and postpartum home visits as assigned
- Attends meetings as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education, Licenses, & Certifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in Midwifery
- 3+ years clinical nursing experience with 1+ year as a Certified Nurse Midwife
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas
- Kansas Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the state of Kansas
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Professionals
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
- American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) Certification

- Strong knowledge of medical documentation and HIPAA regulations.
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on obstetric care.

- Ability to start an IV, perform venipuncture, and Intramuscular (IM)/Subcutaneous (SubQ) injections
- Ability to use Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to discuss a plan of care with patients via phone or patient portal
