We are looking for a reliable and professional Part-Time Class 2 Driver to join our Newcastle team.

The role

As a Class 2 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of metal materials to customers and, where required, between Company sites. You will report to the Transport Supervisor / Warehouse Manager and work closely with the warehouse team to ensure vehicles are loaded safely and deliveries are completed on time.

The role involves multi-drop deliveries, customer interaction, vehicle checks, delivery paperwork and compliance with driver, vehicle and DVSA requirements. Your driver job description also covers safe movement of materials, vehicle checks, tachograph procedures, delivery paperwork, customer service and supporting warehouse duties when not driving.

Main duties

Your duties will include:

• Carrying out Class 2 deliveries to customers and Company sites.
• Completing multi-drop delivery routes safely and efficiently.
• Checking delivery notes, manifests, returns and collection paperwork.
• Ensuring loads are checked, secure and suitable for transport before leaving site.
• Working with warehouse colleagues to load and unload vehicles safely.
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects promptly.
• Following tachograph, drivers’ hours, working time and DVSA requirements.
• Maintaining the vehicle in a clean, tidy and roadworthy condition.
• Representing the Company professionally when dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Assisting with warehouse duties when not driving, where required.
• Following all Company health and safety, vehicle and driver policies.

Essential requirements

You must have:

• Category C / Class 2 driving licence.
• Current Driver CPC.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Good knowledge of driver hours, working time and vehicle check requirements.
• Safe, professional driving standards.
• Good attention to detail when checking loads and paperwork.
• A reliable and flexible approach to work.
• Good communication skills and a professional manner with customers.

Useful experience

The following would be beneficial but is not essential:

• Experience delivering metal, engineering materials, long-length goods or heavy products.
• Multi-drop delivery experience.
• Experience with load security and strapping.
• Forklift licence or forklift experience.
• Warehouse or stockholding experience.

Working pattern

This is a part-time role working:

Tuesday to Thursday, 08:00–16:00, with a 45-minute unpaid break each day.

Some flexibility may be needed on start and finish times depending on customer orders, traffic, delivery schedules and operational requirements.
