Communications Coordinator (Part-Time)

Maggie Walker Community Land Trust is seeking a creative, organized, and community-oriented Communications Coordinator to support the organization’s outreach, marketing, and public engagement efforts.

This is an in-office, part-time position based in Richmond, Virginia. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, detail-oriented, comfortable engaging with the public, and passionate about affordable housing and community impact.

Position Details:

· Position: Communications Coordinator

· Schedule: Part-Time, 18 hours per week

· Pay: $22 per hour

· Location: In-office (not remote) – Richmond, VA

Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will assist with:

· Website maintenance and updates

· Graphic design for flyers, social media, newsletters, and promotional materials

· Writing and distributing press releases

· Managing and creating content for social media platforms

· Outreach tabling and community engagement events

· Marketing support and promotional campaigns

· Assisting with storytelling, branding, and organizational visibility

· Supporting communication efforts for events, programs, and fundraising initiatives

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

· At least 3 years of communications, marketing, public relations, or related experience

· Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

· Experience with graphic design platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite

· Familiarity with website management platforms (WordPress preferred)

· Social media management experience across multiple platforms

· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small nonprofit environment
