Part-Time Cook I

Purpose: Prepare hot food in recommended portions for our clients following the daily production sheet and paying careful attention to food safety and timely completion. The hours would be Monday - Friday 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Responsibilities:

· Gather ingredients required according to daily production sheets.

· Prepare cold foods; portioning, capping, and packaging following recipes, menus, and proper food handling procedures.

· Prepare desserts, which may require baking, cooking, making frosting for cupcakes, etc.

· Participate in tray-line assembly and pack hot food in containers for delivery. Transport filled containers to appropriate delivery area.

· Prepare delivery containers with ice and packing containers by route or van transport cart.

· Keep the work area organized and clean.

· Complete and submit paperwork daily.

· Perform any other assigned activity required to expedite the meals.

· Participate in Bag Line Assembly and pack cold foods onto designated carts.

· All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

· Food service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Able to read and follow recipes, and other written and oral instruction.
• Able to count items accurately for extended periods of time.
• Able to read and record temperatures using thermometers.
• Able to follow production schedule and work in an efficient manner to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Able to operate, maintain and clean small ware chopper, buffalo chopper, meat slicer, and food processor.
• Able to operate capping machine.
• Able to read and understand diet restrictions, to pack cold foods in bags properly on the bag line.
• Able to work independently and with a team.
• Able to complete required paperwork.
• Must achieve ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Retain ServSafe Certification as a condition of employment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Standing and walking throughout the shift.
• Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
• Physical activity includes crouching, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling as well as repetitive motions of wrists and hands.
• Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
• Environmental conditions include machine noise and worker may be exposed to extreme cold for short periods of time.

Reliable, consistent punctuality and physical attendance are required.
