Part-Time Daycare Cook / Nutrition Assistant

Doodle Bugs Daycare is looking for a dependable, organized, and caring Part-Time Cook / Nutrition Assistant to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up lunch and snacks for children in a licensed childcare setting.

The ideal candidate has experience working with food, nutrition, meal preparation, or childcare food service and understands the importance of following CACFP guidelines, food safety practices, and proper documentation.

In addition to kitchen duties, this role may also assist with classroom breaks, light cleaning, and helping the center run smoothly throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks for children according to daily menus
• Follow CACFP meal pattern requirements and portion guidelines
• Maintain accurate meal counts and food service documentation
• Ensure all food is prepared and served safely and appropriately for each age group
• Clean and sanitize kitchen, dishes, tables, food prep areas, and serving supplies
• Follow proper food storage, labeling, and temperature procedures
• Assist with lunch cleanup in classrooms as needed
• Help cover staff breaks when needed
• Support teachers and children in a kind, professional manner
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
• Follow all daycare, licensing, CACFP, and food safety policies
• Communicate supply needs, menu concerns, or food-related issues to management

Qualifications

• Experience in food service, nutrition, meal prep, school food service, daycare, or a similar setting preferred
• Understanding of CACFP requirements strongly preferred
• Must be dependable, punctual, and organized
• Must be comfortable working around young children
• Ability to follow menus, recipes, portion sizes, and written procedures
• Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
• Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must meet all childcare licensing requirements, including background check and required trainings

Preferred Experience

• CACFP: 1 year preferred
• Food service or meal preparation: 1 year preferred
• Childcare, school, or daycare setting: preferred

Schedule

• Part-time
• Monday through Friday
• Day shift (6 am - Noon)
• No nights
• No weekends
