Duties

  • Assist dentists during various procedures, including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, fabrication of temporary crowns, pediatric dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and adherence to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy.
  • Manage patient records using Open Dental software, ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment notes.
  • Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to safeguard patient health.
  • Assist with medical documentation and coding related to dental procedures for accurate record-keeping and insurance processing.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient visits, and managing patient flow efficiently.
  • Educate patients on oral health practices, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to promote overall well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards related to infection control and safety protocols within the clinic environment.

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and proper use of X-ray equipment is necessary.
  • Experience with medical imaging devices like 3D scanners or digital X-ray systems enhances your ability to support advanced diagnostic procedures.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of patient information at all times.
