Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow
• Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in Eaglesoft
• Ensure aseptic techniques and infection control standards are strictly followed to safeguard patient health
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures and provide compassionate patient care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping
• Strong understanding of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and sterilization protocols
• Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred but not required; training will be provided if necessary
• Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport
• Knowledge of medical coding related to dental procedures is a plus but not mandatory
