The City of Eudora is accepting applications for a Part-Time Deputy Court Clerk. The position is responsible for clerical, administrative, and customer support duties in support of the operations of the municipal court. Responsibilities include processing citations, preparing Court dockets and records, assisting in Court, and the preparation and/or maintenance of fiscal or related records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Municipal Court Clerk.

Job Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)

· Answers inquiries and assists the public for Court related information and payment of fees and fines.

· Works court dates, assists with courtroom set up, writes pleas, etc. on docket; processes payments, makes copies of insurance cards, journal entries, and diversions for attorneys and defendants.

· Collects citations and arranges in court data order; enters citations into computer records and prepares court dockets.

· Processes incoming mail and faxes related to court, including payments and record requests.

· Records pleas and dispositions; records fines and fees.

· Prepares and files records and reports on Court proceedings.

· Performs general filing, often times at high volume.

· Processes requests for appeals and Court data extensions; resets Court dates.

· Assists in the preparation and maintenance of citation files and Court dockets.

· Processes requests for discovery for defendants and prosecutors and certified driving records for the prosecutor.

· Prepares trial list for prosecutor as well as issuing subpoenas for the officers who are scheduled for trial.

· Backfill duties of Municipal Court Clerk as needed.

· Exercise leadership practices within the position to move the department toward the City mission, vision, and values.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to work on scheduled Court days.
  • General clerical and administrative knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Skilled at operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software.
  • High school diploma or GED and minimal experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to interact courteously with associates and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, and repetitive motions, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms, and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal articulated word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic).

Pay

$18.85 to $22.62 per hour
