POSITION SUMMARY: Crawford County Library District is seeking a part-time transit driver to join our team. The ideal candidate is innovative and engaged to help us move forward with our mission of being a customer-centered public library providing vital services to the people of Crawford County, Missouri.

This person operates the library transit van to transfer books and other library materials between in-county library branches.

This position requires lifting and loading materials and driving the library transit van between Steelville, Cuba, and Bourbon branches three times a week. This position will be approximately 7- 9 hours per week, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays beginning at 9 a.m. each day. Additional hours may be needed for van maintenance duties that occur approximately three times a year.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Adheres to, supports, and implements Crawford County Library District overall core values and board policies and procedures

· Reports vehicle problems or concerns.

· Loads and unloads packages, containers of books, and other materials to assigned library delivery locations at each delivery stop.

· Performs routine van maintenance as assigned.

· Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties require extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, and driving. Duties require occasional periods of climbing or balancing, pushing/pulling items, lifting/carrying items, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Weights up to 100 pounds may be encountered. Vision requirements include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability of adjust focus. Hazards are considered minor and controllable, but may include exposure to human error.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, with some experience operating delivery vans or larger vehicles preferred. Possession of a valid Missouri Driver's license with no restrictions other than corrective lenses. Possession of a clear driving record, with no accidents or violations in the last three years.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF:

· Considerable knowledge of safe driving habits and procedures, including laws and regulations for the operation of a motor vehicle.

· Ability to drive van type safely and efficiently.

· Ability to perform lifting required for loading and unloading vehicle.

· Some knowledge of maintenance requirements for automotive equipment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND DEMANDS OF THE POSITION:

· Ability to comprehend instructions both verbally and in written form.

· Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and stooping.

· Ability to drive transit van vehicle.

· Pushing and pulling: on wheeled dolly/cart, containers weighing 50-100 pounds.

· Indoor and outdoor work environment.

· Flexible work hours to meet delivery schedule.

· Understand and apply relevant Federal, State and local policies, laws and regulations.

· Maintain an effective public image of the library.

· The ability to identify problems and create solutions.

· Ability to work independently and use initiative.

· Ability of multitask efficiently.

· Must be able to perform basic record keeping for van expenditures.

Required Licenses or Certification

· Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License

· Pre-employment Drug/Alcohol testing and Background check is required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.43 per hour

Work Location: In person
