Part-Time Dog Boarding Attendant / In-Home Pet Care Assistant

Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable, calm, detail-oriented dog lover to help with an in-home dog boarding business. This role includes feeding, potty breaks, cleanup, supervised playtime, nap/rest routines, and occasional client pickups/drop-offs for daycare dogs.

This is a great fit for someone who is comfortable with multiple dogs, follows instructions carefully, communicates clearly, and takes safety seriously.

Responsibilities

• Let dogs outside for potty breaks
• Feed dogs according to written instructions
• Refresh water bowls
• Supervise safe playtime
• Help dogs settle for rest/nap time
• Clean accidents, food spills, paw prints, and dog areas
• Pick up yard waste
• Wash bowls and reset feeding areas
• Handle scheduled daycare pickups/drop-offs
• Pack belongings for dogs going home
• Send simple owner updates when assigned
• Report concerns immediately, including illness, injury, stress, appetite changes, bathroom changes, or behavior issues
• Keep doors, gates, crates, and yard access secure

Requirements

• Comfortable around dogs of different sizes and temperaments
• Able to follow detailed care instructions
• Reliable transportation
• Punctual and consistent
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds when needed
• Comfortable cleaning dog-related messes
• Calm under pressure
• Good communication by text
• Prior dog care, pet sitting, vet clinic, grooming, shelter, rescue, or daycare experience preferred

Pay

$20-$25 per hour, depending on experience
1-hour minimum per visit
Holiday pay available during peak boarding periods

Schedule

Part-time, flexible, 3 short visits per day as needed.

Typical visit windows:

• Morning: 8:45-9:45 AM
• Midday: 12:00-1:00 PM
• Evening: 5:00-6:30 PM

Some days may require extra time for pickups, drop-offs, cleanup, or higher dog counts.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal person is responsible, gentle, observant, and not easily overwhelmed by normal dog noise, mess, or energy. You should be comfortable redirecting dogs, separating dogs when needed, and keeping a clean, safe home environment.

Not A Good Fit If

• You are uncomfortable cleaning up accidents or yard waste
• You are frequently late or hard to reach
• You are nervous around medium or large dogs
• You cannot follow written instructions
• You want a job where dogs are left mostly unsupervised
